Application and installation requirements of fixed ammonia gas detector

- Jun 28, 2024-

Ammonia (NH3), an inorganic compound, is colorless and has a pungent and foul smell. It is easily soluble in water. Ammonia reacts with acid to form ammonium salts. Ammonia is mainly used as a refrigerant and to produce ammonium salts and nitrogen fertilizers, compound fertilizers, nitric acid, ammonium salts, soda ash, etc. Ammonia in indoor air mainly comes from concrete additives used in construction. The additives contain a large amount of ammonia substances. Through the use of handheld ammonia alarms, it is known that ammonia is reduced to ammonia and released in the wall as environmental factors such as temperature and humidity change.

Poisoning symptoms: rhinitis, pharyngitis, sore throat, hoarseness, itchy eyes, dry eyes, sneezing, dry throat, runny nose, which can induce convulsions, convulsions, drowsiness, coma and other consciousness disorders. It can burn the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes of respiratory organs. Excessive inhalation can cause lung swelling. Some patients who inhale extremely concentrated ammonia may experience respiratory and cardiac arrest and even death.

1.Measures to prevent ammonia poisoning:

(1). Install and use ammonia detector to promptly report whether harmful concentrations have been reached;

(2). When working, corrosion-resistant work clothes, alkali-resistant gloves, glasses, rubber shoes, and gas masks should be used. Gas masks should be checked regularly to prevent failure;

(3). when preparing ammonia water of a certain concentration, goggles should be worn; when using ammonia water, the operator should be in the upwind position to prevent ammonia from irritating the face; it is strictly forbidden to rub the eyes with hands during operation, and wash hands after operation;

(4). Equipped with good ventilation and exhaust facilities, suitable explosion-proof and fire-extinguishing equipment;

(5). Eating, smoking, open flames and sparks are prohibited in the workplace;

(6). Air respirators must be worn during emergency rescue;

2.Installation and requirements of ammonia gas detector:

(1). The density of ammonia gas is less than that of air. The detector should be installed 0.5m-2m above the leak point, with the sensor facing downward.

(2). Do not install the instrument in the following locations:

① Places directly affected by steam and oil smoke;

② Places with large air flow such as air inlets, ventilation fans, and doors;

③ Places with a lot of moisture and water droplets (relative humidity: ≧90%);

④ Places with temperatures below -20℃ or above 50℃;

⑤ Places with strong electromagnetic fields
