There are many kinds and models of combustible gas alarms detector, but their basic circuit principle is same, so its usage and maintenance methods are similar. Following is the methods of use and maintenance are introduction:
(1) The life of detection elements and compensation elements usually is 3 - 5 years.
(2) Under the conditions of reasonable use and proper maintenance, its service life can be prolonged.
(3)For alarms with test buttons, the test button shall be activated once a week to check whether the alarm system is normal or not. Check and calibrate the zero point and range of the alarm every 2 months.
(4) Always check the detector for accidental water inflow. When detecting the instrument, the air vent cover of the detector should be taken off and cleaned to prevent blockage.
(5) The detector is explosion-proof equipment and shall not be used beyond the specifiedrange. Detectors shall not be used in sulfur-containing situations. The detector should be used as far as possible under the condition that the concentration of combustible gas is lower than the lower limit of explosion, otherwise, it is possible to burn out the components.
(6) Hot wire semiconductor detectors shall not be used in oxygen-deficient conditions. Do not use a large amount of combustible gas to rush at the probe.
Combustible gas alarm is a detector that responds to single or multiple combustible gas concentrations. Combustible gas detectors can be classified into catalytic type and infrared optical type. Catalytic combustible gas detector uses the resistance change of refractory metal platinum wire after heating to measure the combustible gas concentration. When combustible gas enters the detector, it causes oxidation reaction ( flameless combustion ) on the surface of platinum wire, and the generated heat raises the temperature of platinum wire, while the resistivity of platinum wire changes.
