Why does ozone gas need to be detected?

- Apr 25, 2025-

With the continuous expansion of the industrial field, the application of ozone has become increasingly extensive, covering drinking water purification, sewage treatment, industrial oxidation, food processing and preservation, pharmaceutical synthesis, and space sterilization. In these applications, ozone mainly plays an excellent disinfection and sterilization role. Therefore, it is very important to detect ozone concentration.

The reasons why ozone gas needs to be detected.

1. The harm of ozone to the human body:

a. The respiratory system is affected. Inhaling a large amount of ozone may affect lung function and damage the lung tissue of the human body. At the same time, patients may experience some respiratory symptoms, such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, sore throat and cough.

b. The blood circulation system is affected. A large amount of ozone may enter the human circulatory system through the blood, causing arrhythmia, stroke and other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

c. The nervous system is affected. A large amount of ozone may cause the human nervous system to be affected, resulting in dizziness, headache, nausea, which is not conducive to human health.

d. Affecting other parts of the body. For example, in the eyes, nose and other parts of the body, a large amount of ozone may cause local skin and mucous membrane irritation, pain and other discomfort. In addition, a large amount of ozone may also destroy the cellulose in the human skin, causing dark spots on the skin.

2. Source of ozone: Ozone mainly comes from photochemical reactions in the atmosphere, especially in urban environments, where nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds produced by automobile exhaust and industrial emissions generate ozone under sunlight. In addition, ozone is also produced during industrial production, especially under high-voltage discharge environments.

Therefore, testing ozone concentration can provide us with a reference for air quality, and timely measures can be taken to protect human health.

How to detect?

Choose an ozone gas detector. Ozone concentration detection uses an electrochemical sensor, which uses the redox reaction between ozone and electrode materials to generate an electrical signal proportional to the ozone concentration. Specifically, when the measured ozone gas passes through the sensor, it reacts with the electrode material to generate a current or voltage signal. After being amplified and filtered by the circuit, it is converted into a digital or analog signal and finally displayed on the display. At present, this method is widely used.

Ozone gas monitor is usually installed in areas where gas leaks may occur, and can be monitored online in real time around the clock. Once the ozone concentration in the environment exceeds the safety threshold, the alarm system will be triggered. Portable detectors are small and light, and can be operated with one hand, making them very suitable for carrying around for inspection or experimental gas detection.
