First of all, there is a difference in design concept between intrinsic security and explosion proof :
1. Intrinsically safe concept
(1) It is a "safe" technology that suppressing ignition source energy as an explosion-proof method. It is required that the electric spark or thermal effect produced by the device under normal working or fault conditions are smaller than the minimum ignition energy and self-ignition temperature of the explosive gas.
2) Any electric spark or any thermal effect generated under the conditions specified in the standard (including normal work and specified fault conditions) cannot ignite the circuits in the specified explosive gas environment (0/I zone explosion-proof technology).
(3) Intrinsically safe technology is actually a low-power design technology. So it can be well applied to industrial automation instruments.
2. Explosion-proof concept
(1) The gap explosion-proof technology depends on the gap and mesh length to achieve the effect of cooling and flameout.
(2) Dangerous gases are allowed to enter the explosion-proof enclosure. An explosion may occur in the enclosure, but the enclosure must have sufficient strength; and the joint surfaces of each enclosure must have a sufficiently long meshing length and a sufficiently small gap to ensure that internal explosions will not occur. Passing through the flameproof joint surface causes an explosion in the external environment.
(3) Electrical equipment enclosure that can withstand the explosive pressure from the internal mix gas explosion and prevent the internal explosion from spreading to the explosive mixture around the enclosure (zone I explosion-proof technology).
